The National Galleries of Scotland look after one of the world’s finest collections of Western art ranging from the Middle Ages to the present day.
"We are in a period of significant transitional change.
There has been rationalisation and restructuring of resource and realignment of budgets which is enabling significant progress in many areas.
The galleries have brought in new blood to key positions recently which is now moving the galleries forward at an exciting pace."
To achieve our vision, OUR online presence has been broadened significantly with the launch of a new collection website and we are on target to digitize the entire collection by 2020.
We have two major capital projects; the redevelopment of the Scottish National Gallery with a suite of brand new spaces to house the world’s most important collection of Scottish art and the organisation is also developing plans for a major new facility in north Edinburgh which will be a new centre for conserving, researching and distributing the collection.
